Clarkson Professor Tom Ortmeyer Awarded Lifetime Research Achievement Award

Clarkson University Research Professor Thomas H. Ortmeyer, director of the Center for Electric Power System Research, has been awarded Clarkson’s Lifetime Research Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Research Achievement Award is granted annually to recognize research by a tenured faculty member who is recognized internationally for a body of work that exemplifies the highest level of research accomplishment and has made a significant impact on their chosen field of study.

Ortmeyer has obtained research funding from federal, state and corporate sources, including the U.S. Department of Energy, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

His research interests include power, power transmission and distribution, power generation, and power and energy management.

Ortmeyer works extensively with academic and industrial colleagues, including researchers at National Grid, Electric Power Research Institute, General Electric and Nova Energy Specialists.

He has authored 117 papers in academic journals and is a Life Fellow of IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
