A Concrete Vision
Vision is a Clarkson value. But having a vision of a sustainable future isn’t valued only at Clarkson. The American Society of Testing and Materials recently recognized Professor Robert Thomas as an Emerging Professional for his work in advancing concrete materials technology to promote sustainable infrastructure. Exploring COVID-19 Transmission
As the global community scrambles to better understand the new coronavirus, researchers from Clarkson University and the Trudeau Institute have responded to a call from the NSF for proposals to investigate the spread of COVID-19. Led by Clarkson Professor Byron Erath, they will explore how the virus is transmitted through air dispelled during speech. READ MORE
Professor Shen Retires
After 44 years of teaching, Professor Hayley Shen is taking a well-deserved rest, retiring from Clarkson as professor emeritus. A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineering Mechanics Institute, Shen contributed significantly to the fields of granular materials and wave-ice interaction. READ MORE
A Historic Scholarship
Lilia Pettit ’21 made Clarkson history as the first Golden Knight to receive a Udall Scholarship, which is awarded to sophomores and juniors committed to issues affecting Native Americans or the environment. An environmental and civil engineering major, Pettit has worked to raise awareness for environmental remediation, particularly in the ocean. READ MORE
