COVID-19 Read/ Act:  Starting the New Year in 2022 (posted 11:45am)

Clarkson Employees,

We hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday break and found time to relax and rejuvenate with family.  As we return to work in 2022, we continue to prioritize our commitment to providing all students with an in-person learning experience as well as prioritize the health and safety of our community.

This communication serves as a reminder of the December 22 and December 30 announcements to all employees that detailed the January return to work requirements. These are also outlined at http://www.clarkson.edu/spring-2022.

With limited exceptions that were detailed in the announcements, all employees are required to submit the following documentation prior to returning to campus for the first time in 2022:

  • Documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result – submitted to clarksonhr@clarkson.edu

Employees should NOT return to the campus if they have not received a negative COVID-19 test result or submitted documentation related to being a recent past positive to clarksonhr@clarkson.eduEmployees waiting for a test result to come in may work from home through Wednesday, January 5.  If you work in a position where you can not do your job remotely, such as some positions in Facilities and Campus Safety, there will be onsite testing administered tomorrow — those employees will be notified.  If you think you should in this group, please have your supervisor discuss this with HR.

Employees without a test result after Wednesday, January 5 can use their PTO bank/vacation time while they wait to obtain a result or schedule a test at one of the numerous sites detailed in the announcements.  For antigen tests that are available in local drug stores/online sites some drug stores are also keeping these tests behind the pharmacy counter, so you may need to be proactive in soliciting them.

St. Lawrence Health System allows for online scheduling or calling the hotline during business hours to get a same day appointment – , https://www.stlawrencehealthsystem.org/covid-19/schedule-covid-test.

Documentation of a COVID-19 booster shot, based on eligibility to receive one, uploaded to https://go.clarkson.edu/employeevaccine

In summary, individuals eligible for being boosted are those who: received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination at least six months ago; or received the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccination at least two months ago.

The North Country has multiple sites administering booster shots as detailed in the announcements.  St. Lawrence County Public Health as well as some drug stores indicate they will also fit in walk-ins to the best of their ability for those who have not yet made an appointment.  Some private practice medical providers are also administering vaccination booster shots.  If an eligible employee has a negative test result and has scheduled a booster shot by January 31, they can return to work before then and must adhere to all mask protocols fully.

The New York State HERO Act remains in effect, therefore, the universal mask policy remains. With the current trends in COVID-19 related to the Omicron variant that have taken place in the last few weeks, we are asking all members of our community to adhere fully to the mask policy to limit the spread and maintain the health and safety of our community.

Thank you.
