Members of the Biochemistry and Proteomics Laboratories at Clarkson University led by Professor Costel C. Darie supported experiments in the AAK Middle School in Potsdam, NY.
The support included supplies to design and conduct an experiment in which the students will dissect owl pellets and gain some insights in the food that the owls ate, by identifying bones. The experiments will be conducted in Mrs. Rebecca Munn’s classes. She is the 7th Grade Science & Living Environment teacher at the Potsdam AAK Middle School.
“We like to support science at the Potsdam AAK Middle School in any way we can”, said Darie. Once I just came with Emma Dupree, a graduate student at that time and gave Mr. Douglas Saber, a teacher from the Potsdam AAK Middle School, a series of USB-based microscopes that allowed the students to investigate insects. Another time, I just went, together with Dr. Alisa G. Woods to Potsdam AAK Middle School and gave presentations about our research programs. This time, Danielle Whitham, a graduate student in our lab went to Potsdam AAK Middle School and gave Mrs. Munn the dissecting materials. We hope to continue to do so in the future,” ended Darie.
