The Writing Center is Opening This Week.

Schedule an Appointment

We schedule 30 minute appointments through Google Calendar.  The process is slightly different this year.  You may go directly to this link: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/selfsched?sstoken=UUFJLTBMRkhfRndufGRlZmF1bHR8ZmJlN2Y3ZWNiYjYwZmQ4NzQzZDdhOTM4ZTM1NzFlZDI

You can also email wcenter@clarkson.edu.  The auto-responder will take you to the link to the appointment calendar. You can also make an appointment through our website “Writing Center” aka CUWRITE on the Intranet and go to the Appointments tab.  Our website is https://sites.clarkson.edu/cuwrite/appointments/

What Happens at the Appointment

The Writing Center is the place to go to talk through an assignment, to get a critical reading on content and organization or to brush up on some writing tools, such as the use of commas and sophisticated transitions.  At the Writing Center, we don’t talk about getting a higher grade on a paper, we talk about what the reader gets, or doesn’t get, through reading the paper.  The readers are undergraduate peers.  They are trained to be collaborative and not prescriptive.  They do not ‘teach writing,’ and they don’t ‘fix’ papers.  They are sounding boards and coaches.  You can find out more about our mission on our Website.
Students who make appointments at the Writing Center can bring a paper copy or a laptop and a google doc.  Students can use the appointment as an artificial deadline to avoid procrastination, resulting in time to make changes!  Walk-ins are welcome if a tutor happens to be available.
We look forward to seeing you this semester.  See our hours below.
