STEM LEAF ADVANCE GRANT KICK-OFF EVENTS

Dear Clarkson Community,
We are excited to invite you to join in the kick-off events for Clarkson’s NSF ADVANCE  STEM Leadership, Equity, and Advancement for Faculty (LEAF) grant January 21 – 23. These events will mark the initiation of a several year grant meant to increase equity for female STEM faculty. The university is excited to partner these efforts with other institutional efforts to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.

Meet and Greet, hosted by the Climate and Engagement Committee, MPRs, Tuesday, 1/21 at 3:00 – 4:30, Potsdam.Tuesday there will be a meet and greet, hosted by the Climate and Engagement Committee, with Tanya Odom.  All are welcome to come and get some one-on-one time with our featured speaker, Tanya Odom, and learn more about her work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in higher education. Share with her your experiences involving diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at Clarkson.

“Strengthening a Culture of Inclusion and Belonging: Voices of Diversity at Clarkson,” Wednesday, 1/22 at 11:00am – 12:45pm, MPRs, Potsdam; Zoom available.Tanya Odom will deliver the featured talk Wednesday followed by a panel discussion. The talk entitled, “Strengthening a Culture of Inclusion and Belonging: Voices of Diversity at Clarkson,” will provide an overview of issues faced in meeting our goals of more equity in STEM. Tanya Odom will then facilitate a panel discussion of Clarkson faculty on those issues as they relate to our institution at an individual level. The event will be available via Zoom. ADVANCE – CRC Kick-off Roundtable, Thursday, 1/23 at 11:00am – 1:00PM, 002, CRC The roundtable will be an introduction to the ADVANCE grant initiatives, a debrief on Tanya Odom’s presentation, and a discussion of ways to be involved at the CRC.

Tanya Odom is a Global Consultant and Coach in New York, NY who is a diversity and inclusion, equity, and civil rights thought leader. She brings over 20 years of experience in over 40 countries working in education, private sector/corporate, not-for-profit/NGO, law enforcement, and universities/colleges.Looking Forward to Seeing You at the Event!
