COVID Read: Student Center Covid-19 Event Guidelines

The Clarkson campus is currently in Stage 3 of our Reopening plan, which allows for some pre-approved events to be held on campus, with up to 25 people. Previous communications have outlined the policies for non-essential gatherings, events, and group activities. This communication further explains the Stage 3 guidelines for events held in the Student Center.

  • Forum Stairs/Seats
    • Close off the first 2 rows of seats to increase the distance between the audience and people on stage if the stage is in use.
    • 56 total occupancy*
    • 6’ markers needed to show where seating can take place
    • Event contact is responsible for enforcing seating limits
  • Forum Screen
    • Must wipe down with disinfectant wipes after use, do not use wipes on the videowall surface itself
    • One person who is using the screen control for the event
    • Recommend requesting OIT’s assistance at the event for the screen/sound/mics/etc.
  • Tabling
    • Minimum 6’ distance between people tabling
    • Recommended 10’ distance between tables
    • Only table on one side of the hallway so that social distancing can be maintained with foot traffic
    • Max 4 tables per concourse hallway
  • General recommendations
    • Table shields
    • Gloves when handling
    • Masks required
    • One person manning the table for the event
    • Keep hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes on hand for your event
    • Please be mindful of classes that are in session in the Multipurpose Rooms during the Forum event times.

*Note: All events must be approved prior to the event. Click here for student groups to submit their Covid-19 Event Safety Plan form. This venue is being used as the exception to hold larger in-person events on campus beyond the 25 limit we have in Clarkson’s Stage 3.  Right now under New York Forward, the State of New York limits large gathering sizes to no more than 50 persons.

Remember, this can rapidly change back to Stage 2 or Stage 1 if we see an increase in positive cases on campus. Please keep supporting the health and safety protocols put into place in the reopening plan — like wearing a face mask over your nose and mouth, practicing social distancing, and limiting travel within the North Country — to protect you and your community.
