Proposed Changes to the Senate Constitution and Operations – Overview

Dear Colleagues,

Last year, in response to the formation of the Lewis School of Health Sciences, feedback from faculty, the COACHE survey, and the SRP report, the Faculty Senate commissioned an ad hoc committee to suggest changes to the Senate’s operations and structure. That committee has completed its report. The report offers recommendations to make the Senate more efficient, effective, proactive, and representative. Many of these changes require faculty approval; we invite you to read and explore the committee’s recommendations, and provide feedback to your senators. This website provides the report itself, as well as the timeline and process for collecting faculty input and the deliberative milestones that will occur before placing proposed changes up for a vote. The Senate is scheduled to have an initial discussion of the committee’s recommendations at its meeting this coming Monday, 03/15/2021.

Sincerely,
Kevin Fite, Chair of the Faculty Senate
Jan Scrimgeour, Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate
Steve Wojtkiewicz, Secretary of the Faculty Senate
