Supporting our Golden Knights Impacted by Crisis in India

Clarkson Golden Knight Community,

We have many students, faculty, staff and alumni with family and friends in the states and union territories of India, where a second wave of COVID-19 is overwhelming the country’s medical care system.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and those they care for as many are anxious and impacted by this record breaking rise in cases and the toll from related losses of life.

To our community members feeling the personal impact of this crisis in India, please remember there is support here for you.  We realize many of you have not seen loved ones in over a year due to travel restrictions during the pandemic and the current crisis abroad only makes that distance worse.

For those wishing to show your support and care, we are coming together to find ways to extend our outreach and galvanize the Clarkson community to support students, faculty, staff and alumni in the coming days and weeks ahead.  The Chief Inclusion Office will be sending out materials today that provide access to information on counseling services, how to be an ally to those in distress as well as places to donate funds to make a difference.

All Clarkson students have access to the Clarkson Student Emergency Relief Fund when a crisis impacts them by contacting the Dean of Students, deanofstudents@clarkson.edu.  Friends and allies can also donate to this fund and choose to further designate support to students impacted by the India crisis.

As global citizens and as technology leaders, we all have a role in making our Golden Knight community and our lifelong connections to Clarkson ever stronger in these times of tremendous challenge as well as when we seek opportunities.  What is happening in other parts of the world is a stark reminder that the pandemic is not over and needs global commitment.

Thank you for leading by example with your commitment to the Clarkson Values and through personal and professional choices as you lend support to those who have not been spared from the hardships of the pandemic.
