Marlene Hall Named Director of Campus Safety and Security at Clarkson University

Marlene Hall has been named the Director of Campus Safety and Security at Clarkson University.

Marlene Hall

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University. She is also a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development School and Vanderbilt’s Leadership Forum.

Hall has worked in Higher Education for 34 years at Vanderbilt University, Syracuse University, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Tennessee Tech, and most recently Belmont University. Her career work has been in public safety, law enforcement, and security departments.

Hall has held leadership roles and responsibilities for all or significant portions of Clery compliance. Her departments at Syracuse and UNCC were recognized by the Clery Center for programming, outreach, and partnerships. She collaborated with SU students to create a Syracuse University chapter of the Youth Crime Watch of America. Their peer education efforts won national YCWA awards two years in a row.

An advocate of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), her collaborations with student and other key stakeholders resulted in her department’s active participation in the City of LaVergne’s ad hoc Title VI Committee, SU’s Team Against Bias, and Belmont Campus Security’s virtual “Empowering YOU” convocations.

Her investigative, training, and programming background regarding domestic violence and sexual assaults led to her roles as Title IX Coordinator in full-time capacity at Tennessee Tech and as interim at Belmont. Her on- and off-campus community collaborations resulted in Vanderbilt student survivors of sexual assault receiving confidential exams at the Emergency Department of Vanderbilt University Medical Center; the founding of the Rutherford County Children’s Advocacy Center; management of a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) grant to improve related first responder, criminal justice, and victim advocacy services in Tennessee’s Rutherford and Cannon Counties; and formal SU campus community recognition of the Public Safety Department’s investigations and victim assistance in sexual assault, domestic violence, and bias-related cases.

Hall looks forward to returning to New York and beginning her new position at CSS on October 4.

“I am excited to build both traditional and creative relationships that not only meet safety expectations but also contribute to the higher quality of life for the entire campus community.” Hall said.
