COVID-19 READ & ACT: NYS Extends HERO Act to December 15, 2021

University Community,

Yesterday the NYS Department of Health Commissioner extended the expiration date of the NYS HERO Act designation put into place by Gov. Hochul on September 6, 2021.  The expiration moved from October 31, 2021, to December 15, 2021 with yesterday’s executive order.  This is based on the department’s further review of the level of COVID-19 transmission in the State.  This means that Clarkson’s workplace safety plan remains in effect and we will continue to operate under the “minimum controls during an outbreak” specified in our plan.  The University could face significant fines from NY regulators for non-compliance and failing to abide by the Act.

With this extension, mask wearing indoors on campus except in your residences must continue as well as asking everyone to continue to use the daily screening tool prior to starting your day on campus.

Thank you for your remarkable personal commitment this fall to our in-person experience and doing the right things to make this a reality for our community. Please keep up the good health practices as we head towards the Thanksgiving holiday.
