Clarkson’s David D. Reh School of Business to Host Speaker on Entrepreneurship Next Month

Are you interested in learning more about entrepreneurship? Clarkson University’s David D. Reh School of Business will host Professor Sameeksha (Samee) Desai on Friday, December 3, where she will deliver two presentations on the topic.

Her research presentation, entitled Who gains from entrepreneurship?” is part of the Reh School of Business research seminar series. The presentation will be held in-person from 11:00 am -12:00 pm in the Peterson Board Room in Snell Hall, with Zoom access for those who would like to attend remotely. Sameeksha Desai is an associate professor at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and Director of the Manufacturing Policy Initiative at Indiana University. Her work focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development policy, and the implications for regional economic resilience if new businesses don’t start. She examines access to entrepreneurship opportunities and how public policy influences the allocation of entrepreneurial talent. She is especially interested in decisions not to start a business among people who want to, as well as in entrepreneurship outcomes under constraints like corruption. Desai’s work has been

published in public policy, management, economics, and political science journals, including Public Administration Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and she frequently writes for and consults with industry, nonprofit and policy groups.

Desai is also an affiliated researcher at the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum and an Editor at Small Business Economics. Previously, she was the Director of Knowledge Creation and Research in Entrepreneurship at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. She served as the US co-chair of the Transatlantic Policy Consortium. Desai has been a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics, associate fellow at the Ratio Institute, and on the faculty at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Mason University.
