The Plane Student Endowment Fund

Goal and History

The goal of The Faculty/Staff-Student Endowment Fund, funded initially by a generous gift from Dr. Robert A. Plane, president of Clarkson 1974-85, and his wife Mary, aims to encourage faculty and staff members to consider hosting informal social gatherings with Clarkson students. These efforts will be made in order to create a strong bond and reinforce a sense of belonging between the Clarkson faculty/staff and its students.

As educators, the Planes maintained a lifelong interest in engineering informal, non-academic, character-building student-faculty/staff interactions on and off campus. Therefore, this fund provides modest grants to help offset personal costs for refreshments or meals at gatherings in faculty/staff homes and functions held on campus.

Administration

The Dean of Students is authorized to reimburse up to $150 of expenses incurred if the event is held in the staff or faculty member’s home.

The Dean of Students is authorized to reimburse up to $100 of expenses incurred if the event is held on campus.
