COVID-19 Read/Act: NYS HERO Act for Employers & Mask Mandate for Education Still in Effect — Continue to Wear Masks Inside Clarkson University Buildings

The NYS HERO Act for employers of 100+ persons, which requires mask wearing indoors, is still in effect in New York State. The Act is currently set to expire on February 15, 2022, unless renewed by Gov. Hochul.

Today’s announcement by Governor Hochul lifting the general mask mandate in public settings does not change the requirement to wear a mask on places of employment, including Clarkson University Campuses, which are still obligated to follow the mandated NYS HERO Act Safety Plans.

We are also seeking further guidance on the Governor’s inclusion of schools in the lists of exceptions where masks are still required indoors as well as statements that the jurisdiction on lifting the public requirement remains with local county governments and municipalities.

Please recognize that some members of our community are health compromised or have children at home who are not eligible for vaccination – please continue to respect your fellow Golden Knights and members of our greater community who ask you to wear a mask when you are with them.
