The Institute for STEM Education, in collaboration with the University Research Advisory Committee (RAC), are hosting a teaching circle “round trip” series over the next several weeks focused on improving development and opportunities for our graduate students in research-based programs of study. The sessions will be facilitated by Doug Bohl, Michelle Crimi, Andrea Ferro, and Simona Liguori.

How to meet graduate student needs – best practices and needs assessments – open to all faculty
Description: Faculty meet and discuss their knowledge, perceptions, experience, etc. with supporting graduate student development in teaching, research, and other areas of professional growth.
Day: Thurs March 3, 2022

Invitation to a conversation about your wishes as a graduate student- open to all current graduate students
Description: Graduate students meet to have a similar discussion (knowledge, perceptions, experience, etc. with supporting their development in teaching, research, and other)
Day: Thurs March 10, 2022

Where: Student Center | Multipurpose Rooms
Roundtable discussion to meet needs and wishes – open to faculty and graduate students
Description: Faculty and students meet together to have a guided conversation about graduate student support, including needs, opportunities, perceptions, priorities, etc.

Reach Everyone, Teach Everyone: Inclusive Design for Meeting the Needs of Today’s Graduates – open to all faculty
Description: The final session with faculty is to pull out key lessons learned that will help the teams across campus who are working on related initiatives. We will cross-cut carry lessons learned and priorities to these groups.
