Next Phase of ERC Renovation

The Educational Resources Center is about to enter the next phase of renovation which will result in a brighter more energy-efficient environment that will provide expansions and enhancements to individual and group study spaces.  Construction begins Monday, May 16!

Before construction begins, we will be relocating the current furniture from the atrium to other open study areas on campus and placing round tables from Events throughout the atrium for general use during the remainder of this semester. The University is committed to maintaining more study space in open common areas across campus than is currently available.  For the Fall 2022 semester additional study stations in the ERC on the 2nd floor, CAMP 1st and 2nd floors, and in Cheel will be provided.

In this phase of renovation, ERC102 will be turned into a design classroom in support of Ignite and the MakerSpace. The atrium area will be updated and all of the atrium furniture will be replaced with new tables and chairs for group or individual study.  The stairs from the first to the second floor will be altered in order to create a landing which will accommodate an elevated platform for presenters at larger events.  Additionally, upstairs, the mezzanine will be extended, widened and outfitted with furniture to support additional and varied student study needs.  Finally, the entire window wall facing the Adirondacks will be replaced in its entirety while all of the lighting throughout the atrium will be replaced with high-efficiency fixtures, creating a brighter, more airy space to enjoy.

The ERC atrium will be unavailable from May 16 through the Fall 2022 Semester.

Several offices will be affected by construction including the Student Success Center, Student Health & Counseling (SHAC), student package distribution, and Campus Safety & Security.  Details to follow concerning those resources, and how they will be maintained throughout the duration of construction.
