Former Healthcare MBA Students Honored with Home Care Association’s (HCA) 2022 Quality and Innovation Award

Former Clarkson Healthcare MBA students Devneet Singh and Shayhaan Shaikh were recently honored with the Home Care Association’s (HCA) 2022 Quality and Innovation Award.

Now second-year medical students at Albany Medical College, Singh and Shaikh conducted research and developed a pediatric sepsis screening and intervention tool for home health. The tool was adjusted to be used on three different age groups ranging from newborn to 17 years-old.

What began as a class project during the MBA Leadership in Medicine (LIM) curriculum, in partnership with HCA, quickly gained support and traction for a more expansive state-wide initiative. As noted by local reporter Benita Zahn, “considering that the odds of death from sepsis increases 8% every hour treatment is delayed, this screening tool is sure to be a lifesaver.”
