Regional High Schools are Sending High School Students and Teachers to Clarkson on February 14 for STARTScience@Clarkson

The Clarkson Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, in collaboration with the Institute for STEM Education and the Undergraduate Admissions Office invites high school students, science teachers and school counselors to join us on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 8 am to 2:30 pm in the CHEEL Campus Center Barben Rooms to discuss careers and opportunities in science. Brunch will be served. The event will bring together about 125 participants, of which 80 will be high school students and teachers from the North Country region of New York State. Clarkson students, faculty and staff will mentor high school students and engage in program activities.

The goal of this event is to motivate and inform young people about career paths in STEM, and career opportunities in industry, healthcare, research and teaching. The event will involve a panel discussion, mentoring sessions and networking. The panel will include distinguished speakers from industry, state organizations, teaching, and healthcare. Mentoring sessions will discuss topics such as: i) what can you do with a degree in science?, ii) entrepreneurial scientists, iii) working with industry and state agencies, iv) careers in healthcare, and v) research, internships and experiences.

This event is sponsored by the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, the Institute for STEM Education, the Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS), CFSF Brilliant Pathways, the Undergraduate Admissions Office, the Center for the Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) and the Center of Excellence in Healthy Water Solutions.
