Message From the Founding Dean

2023 is off to an exciting start for the Earl R. and Barbara D. Lewis School of Health Sciences. We have received considerable funding for new projects, as well as state recognition for our program excellence. Our faculty continue to strive for academic excellence, ensuring that our students receive the skills they need to meet rural and distance-challenged healthcare demands. Funding Our Future 

We are thrilled to announce that Clarkson has received more than $7 million in federal funding. New York State Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand secured the investment, which will help us expand healthcare training and resources, as well as further R&D on innovative green transportation infrastructure. Rural Health Program Rewarded

Golden Knights work hard. And when those efforts are recognized, it feels pretty rewarding. In November, the New York State Association of Rural Health named Clarkson’s Lewis School of Health Sciences the 2022 Outstanding Rural Health Program of the Year for its regional and statewide impact on the rural healthcare workforce. It’s a fitting reward for countless hours of effort. READ MORE

Adding to the Resume

Just because our faculty have established careers and teaching positions doesn’t mean they stop striving for greater heights. Take Joan Caruso for example, the chair of our physician assistant studies program and PA of 17 years. She recently obtained her Doctor of Medical Science degree, all while teaching and enjoying her personal life. READ MORE

The Inventor President

Clarkson and the Lewis School are in innovative hands. This winter, Clarkson University President Marc P. Christensen was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, which elects academic inventors whose creations tangibly impact society. Christensen is among 169 inventors in the 2022 Class of Fellows from research universities and institutes worldwide. READ MORE
