As a follow up to the message sent on March 10, 2023 regarding contract negotiations between United Healthcare (UMR) and the University of Vermont Medical (UVM), Clarkson wanted to provide the following update:
UMR and UVM continue to work through contract negotiations. We are hopeful that UMR and UVM will reach an agreement but we want to be prepared if they do not. Clarkson University will continue to recognize UVM as an in–network provider for the next 12 months. We are working with UMR to implement this amendment and it will be effective for April 1, 2023. The amendment will ensure there will be no increase in cost, disruption in care or treatment. We recognize that this is not a long term solution but it does give us time to cultivate a plan and understand the impact it will have on the entirety of the University plan. It is always our goal to offer a plan that offers the best access to healthcare providers.
Once the amendment is completed, we will provide employees a copy of the amendment to bring to their providers so there is clear communication that UVM is still in-network under Clarkson’s UMR plan. All in-network coding will be done behind the scenes by UMR.
