Conversation Corner and Graduate Writing Groups on Fridays

The time and day have been finalized.

For the next five Fridays, you are welcome to join us in room 112 in BH Snell as we continue with two groups that began a few weeks ago.

From 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. we have noisy conversation in the Conversation Corner.

From 4:00-5:30 p.m. we write in silence in the Graduate Writing Group. You are welcome to one or both.

The Conversation Corner is an opportunity to engage in some light-hearted conversational games and some serious discussion of cross-cultural issues.

The Graduate Writing Group uses the Pomodoro Method where we all shut off our devices (except for our laptops) and write for a solid, silent 25 minutes.  We take a 5-minute break and then repeat.  This is a great way to settle down and get some writing done.  There are no assignments, no workshopping and no lessons.  This is a chance for you to crank out some pages for class papers, articles or proposals.  If you decide that you would like some feedback from the Writing Center, we can set that up for another time.

If you would like to get more information about either group, you are welcome to contact the director of the Writing Center/ESL Program who is hosting these events–csajna@clarkson.edu

As always, the Graduate Writing Center is available to help all graduate students with writing or presentations including RAPS, but not including the Three-Minute Thesis Competition.  To make an appointment with the Graduate Writing Center use this link to the director’s calendar.
