The faculty and administration at Clarkson University recognize that the disruption of classes that occurred due to the COVID-19 crisis has created many challenges for students. We have worked together to temporarily adjust several academic policies for the Spring 2020 semester, in order to support academic success under these extraordinary circumstances. This has been a stressful time for all, and we appreciate everyone coming together to make the best of a difficult situation.
These temporary policies are in effect for the Spring 2020 semester only:
Undergraduate Grading
Faculty will record earned letter grades for Spring 2020. Students will have the opportunity to review the letter grades earned, and elect to convert graded courses to the Pass/No Credit grading basis after grades have been posted. Grades will be available the afternoon of May 15th, and all grading basis changes must be submitted by noon on May 20th. Graduate Grading
Any changes to graduate grading schemes for individual graduate courses have been communicated to students by their academic departments.
Academic Standing
The current academic standing policy will be revised such that no student will be subject to Academic Separation following the Spring 2020 term. Students will be placed on Academic Good Standing, Academic Warning, or Academic Probation based on their earned grades prior to any conversion to the Pass/No Credit grading basis, and in accordance with the standards set in the academic regulations. Students who would have been subject to Academic Separation will be placed on Academic Probation instead.
Transcripts
A transcript notation will appear on all student records for Spring 2020, indicating “Spring 2020 was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic”.
On Monday, April 27th, the University Registrar, the Director of the Office of University Advising, and the AVP of the Student Success Center presented a webinar to students titled “Completing your COVID-19 semester… everything you need to know”. The slides from the webinar can be viewed here.
