Clarkson Reunion 2020 – Delayed

This message went to alumni earlier today.

Greetings Golden Knight Alumni,

As Clarkson University continues to monitor and adapt its plans to the changing regulatory environment during the COVID-19 crisis, we will be delaying this year’s Reunion Weekend to July 8-11, 2021, which will also celebrate Clarkson’s 125th Anniversary of its founding in 1896.

While we had hoped that the lifting of the New York State on PAUSE Executive Order this weekend would signal a return to more normal activities that would allow Reunion to take place as planned, we know that the recently announced region-by-region plans to phase back into our daily routines are still very fluid with evolving guidance on larger gatherings.

Like every year, the health, safety and well-being of all of the Reunion participants and our greater Clarkson community are our highest priorities.  Current restrictions on gatherings of any size in New York State combined with the comprehensive preparations we are undertaking to welcome students back in the Fall would limit our ability to provide the level of experience we hold ourselves accountable to delivering this year.

This was not an easy decision as the University has diligently followed the guidance provided by the CDC, New York State and local authorities throughout this crisis.  We also appreciate the expertise and perspectives that many alumni have shared with us.

Along with the postponement of Reunion by our sister institutions in the region, specifically SUNY Potsdam, we recognize that many couples make the trip to celebrate together and so will work in concert with them to combine 2020 and 2021 next summer.  With Clarkson celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2021,we are committed to making it one of the best ever reunions and extending our reach into communities around the country throughout the year!

Stay safe and healthy,

The Clarkson Alumni Office
