NYS Paid Family Leave 2021 Changes  

Starting January 1, 2021, the number of weeks eligible employees can take to bond with a new child, care for a sick family member, or assist loved ones when a family member is deployed for active military service is 12 weeks.

Note: If an employee is on PFL that crosses from 2020 into 2021, the benefit and amount of leave time will remain at the 2020 levels.

The benefit amount increases from 60% to 67% of the employees’ average weekly wage up to 67% of the statewide average weekly wage of $1450.17. The maximum weekly benefit for 2021 is $971.61.

The 2020 contribution rate will increase from 0.270% to 0.511% of the employee’s gross wages. The maximum annual contribution amount will increase from $196.72 to $385.34. This rate increase will begin with the pay date of January 15, 2021.
