Clarkson Water Tower Tank Closed May 24-August 18, Request to Avoid High Volume Water Activities

The Village of Potsdam will be draining and isolating the water tower on Clarkson’s Hill campus for repairs and refinishing inside and outside. This will require them to run pumps 24/7 with relief valves around the Village for pressure control. The Village will be losing 1.5 million gallons of storage capacity for this period. The project is expected to start on Monday, May 24, and last until August 18.

While campus life should be able to carry on pretty much as normal, Village officials are asking that we avoid activities which would use large volumes of water for the duration of the project. Those include things like pool filling, hydrant usage, Fire protection testing, washdowns, etc.

If you have any specific questions or high-volume water needs, please contact Mike Tremper, mtremper@clarkson.edu, director of Facilities.

The Village water plant will be manned continuously throughout this period.
