COVID-19 Read/Act: Updated Policies, Mask & Screening Reminders, Transitioning from Pandemic to Endemic

In this communication:

  • Updates to COVID-19 Policies for Travel, Vaccination, Positive Tests/Exposure; Contact Tracing, Visitors; and Getting Home COVID-19 Tests
  • HERO Act / Mask Reminder
  • Daily Screening Tool Reminders
  • Transition from Pandemic to Endemic: Dashboard Update

Policy Updates: Clarkson continues to place the highest priority on the health, safety and wellbeing of its faculty, staff and students; as well as the wider community. We, therefore, continue to closely monitor the status  of COVID-19 in collaboration with the St. Lawrence County Health Department, local health and safety experts, NYS Department of Health and Department of Education, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the NY State Department.  It is an evolving and dynamic situation, so our response to it may change, as required.  Please follow these links to find the most recent policy changes and University programs/guidelines:

  1.  Interim Travel Policy
  2.  Vaccination Policy
  3.  Positive Diagnosis and Exposure Policy
  4.  Contact Tracing Policy
  5.  Visitors on Campus Form
  6.  Purchasing at Home COVID Test *

* You can also get free tests from the US Government by going to https://www.covidtests.gov/

Keep Wearing Masks:  Under the NYS HERO Act and the University’s PPE policy, all students and staff are required to wear a mask while in classrooms, common areas, and shared work environments such as during in person meetings. Everyone on campus is empowered to remind colleagues and peers to wear a mask with the full expectation for community members to abide by the requirement.  Non-compliance with these requests by students can be reported to the deanofstudents@clarkson.edu and by employees to clarksonhr@clarkson.edu.  The University also has KN-95 masks supplied by St. Lawrence County available upon request that can be picked up at Campus Safety & Security at both the Capital Region Campus (coming) and the Potsdam Campus.

Keep Up with the Daily Screening Tool: Please, if you are sick, stay home and take care of yourself and your co-workers/students. All employees have sick time available to them.   Please do not hesitate to contact the HR department with any questions you may have.  We can be reached at clarksonhr@clarkson.edu.   If you have COVID-19 symptoms, get tested.  This link takes you to the national site for where to get COVID-19 testing. This website shows places to schedule appointments to get tested in New York State and our COVID-19 Website has resources sharing where to get tested.

Dashboard Transition:  As the international, US Federal and NYS Department of Health response to COVID-19 shifts from pandemic to endemic measures and with the NYS changes in contact tracing and reporting systems for COVID-19 positive cases and exposures, we will be transitioning our dashboard over the next few weeks to show how many hospitalizations related to COVID-19 have occurred — which have been zero — and our campus member vaccination rates — 99% of all employees and 98.7% of students.  Students who are symptomatic will continue to be tested through the Health Center and our contact tracing will continue as outlined earlier this month.
