Final Exams Spring 2022

The following applies to all courses on the Semester Calendar:

Spring semester 2022 final exams are scheduled May 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10, 2022.  Also, please note that Monday and Tuesday, May 2-3 are noted “Reading Days” and no exams of any kind may be given on those days.

In the event of a delay or interruption in the final exam due to unforeseen circumstances such as technological issues or an emergency situation, the faculty member or instructional staff should communicate as quickly and succinctly as possible the plans for making up or rescheduling the exam.  If the Faculty/Instructional staff desires, the exam may be rescheduled Saturday, May 7th, or Wednesday May 11th, during a reasonable, non-restricted time slot.  Faculty are also encouraged to use these alternate times when necessary, to offer to students in need of exam accommodations arranged through the Office of Accessibility Services.

The grades will continue to be submitted in myCU by 9:00am on Friday, May 13th.

The intent of the next sections is to provide additional information about final exams from the Registrar, The Teaching and Learning Corner and, The Office of Accessibility Services:

Office of Accessibility Services (OAS)

OAS addresses all final exam scheduling and adjustments over a period of four weeks for approximately 400 students. Due to space availability and the need to ensure accommodations are met, OAS prioritizes final exams for students with accommodations. Questions or concerns regarding final exams should be directed to oas@clarkson.edu.

●        OAS will consider requests for courtesy exam proctoring on a resource available basis (e.g. space, time, proctor, etc.). Not all requests for courtesy proctoring can be fulfilled.

●        The following relates to students with extended time exam accommodations.

o    For timed online exams, faculty will need to override the exam duration to double the time for the general class. Take-home or untimed exams (such as those open for 24 hours) do not require time extensions unless stated otherwise.

o    Students may take up to two exams on any given final exam day, since this equates to 12 hours of exams.

o    Students with back-to-back exams on their myCU exam schedule will need one of their exams rescheduled. OAS has made these modifications for students manually.

o    Exams which are scheduled for 7pm have been adjusted to 5pm. This allows students to finish their exam by 11pm rather than 1am.

o    OAS considers the Academic Regulations (III-H-4) related for exam conflicts.

●        Students with accommodations are emailed instructions for their accommodations at least three times each semester. These instructions include the deadline for submitting requests for final exams. Due to the logistics of final exam scheduling and proctoring, OAS cannot provide final exam accommodations after that stated deadline, which is approximately one month prior to the start of finals.

●        If a student develops a temporary disability impacting final exams, they must contact oas@clarkson.edu immediately to discuss possible accommodations.
